This is why History Majors rule...

Y’see, this is why History Majors are important and necessary — so we can make cogent analytical points like Arthur does here! :D

Just like NA beer…

From the always outstanding Sheldon:
Gramps on coffee - Sheldon

Yup, I can get on board with what Gramps is sayin’. The same is true for NA beer. “Bold, rich, aspirin taste…” Heh! :D

The Counter Reformation?

PBS - 081219

Once again, my love for comics & pop culture comes through for me, this time in a serendipitous collision with theology. I bet there were days when Luther felt he was getting hit by a brick…

For an additional bit of context as to why Rat & Fr. Pippy are battling, read yesterday’s installment.

I've gotten this same request

Baby_Blues_080829

I’ve just started getting this same request from my own little redheaded daughter. And she’s showing some amazing rationalization abilities in trying to justify my spending the money on getting her a laptop that, at this point in time (with her being a 5th grader and all…), she doesn’t need. She has all the computer access she needs using the family computer. She doesn’t like hearing that, of course, but it’s still the truth.

Anyway, I’m glad this strip gave me a reason to blog. Keeping up with my various/main vocations this week has been busy & rather trying – what with school starting back up for the kids and at work, teaching a class, and all the stuff that goes along with all of that. I feel more wrung out than usual…

Garfield – Garfield = Funny

March 3, 2008 ghp Leave a comment

If’n you have a somewhat, shall we say, off sense of humor (like me), then I think you’ll like this.

Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolor disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against lonliness in a quiet American suburb.

Garfield minus Garfield

Garfield minus Garfield

Garfield minus Garfield

Garfield minus Garfield

Yes, Garfield minus Garfield.

It took the surrealistic step of removing the title character himself, but this has once again made Garfield worth reading for me.
